Post-accident vehicle recovery with insurance and police coordination.
Accident recovery towing in Ottawa means more than a hook and a chain. Most Valuable Towing dispatches certified recovery drivers across Ottawa 24 hours a day — with flatbed equipment, winching gear, and direct coordination with Ottawa Police and your insurance adjuster.
Accident recovery covers more than towing a damaged car. It includes safe vehicle extraction from a median, ditch, or snowbank; uprighting rollovers; clearing the scene before police reopen a lane; and direct liaison with Ottawa Police and your insurer. Most Valuable Towing drivers are trained in safe recovery and know Ontario's Collision Reporting Centre requirements — so your claim documentation starts at the scene, not three days later.
Call immediately after any collision that leaves your vehicle unable to drive safely — airbag deployment, fluid leaks, visible frame damage, or a position that blocks a travel lane. Do not attempt to move a vehicle with suspected structural damage; secondary movement can worsen the damage and affect your insurance claim. Keep bystanders well back on highways. If anyone is injured, call 911 first. Call Most Valuable Towing at the same time so recovery equipment is rolling while you wait for police.
We dispatch on the first call. Whether your vehicle is blocking Ottawa roads or tucked down a residential street near the Ottawa area, we route the closest recovery truck straight to you. On arrival, the driver assesses quickly: which recovery truck is right (flatbed, wheel-lift, or winch), whether police clearance is needed before hooking up, and where the vehicle goes — body shop, your address, or our secured Ottawa compound. We photograph the scene for your insurance file, provide a timestamped tow receipt, and hold your vehicle securely while your adjuster arranges an inspection.
Under Ontario's Highway Traffic Act, a collision that causes injury — or more than $2,000 in property damage — must be reported to police. In Ottawa, that means reporting at a designated Collision Reporting Centre. Most Valuable Towing drivers know the CRC locations across Ottawa and can advise you on the nearest one from your accident site. We provide the tow receipt and scene documentation your insurer and the CRC will ask for.
Ontario law requires drivers to file a report at a Collision Reporting Centre when a traffic accident involves injury or property damage exceeding $2,000. The Ottawa Police Service operates Collision Reporting Centre locations across the city. Most Valuable Towing can help you locate the nearest Collision Reporting Centre and supply the necessary towing documentation after your accident.
In Ontario, auto insurance policies generally come with some towing coverage, but the exact details around authorization and extent of coverage can change depending on your specific insurer and policy. Most Valuable Towing will generate a comprehensive tow receipt and scene documentation to support your insurance claim, and recommends you verify your specific coverage directly with your insurance provider while we manage your vehicle transport.
Every service call gets our instant response. Response time depends on your exact location and traffic, but for most Ottawa locations we aim to have a truck rolling within minutes. We give you a realistic ETA upfront — not a vague window. If we're heading to a distant location, we'll be upfront about the extra travel time required.

With flatbed towing, your entire vehicle gets transported on a level surface, which works best for specialty, damaged, or AWD cars. In wheel-lift towing, one axle's wheels get lifted off the ground while the opposite wheels continue to contact the pavement. Although both towing methods ensure vehicle security, flatbed towing provides greater safety and is typically suggested for longer trips or more delicate vehicles.
Ontario customers can count on us for extended-range towing assistance. Whether you need a vehicle moved from Ottawa to Toronto, Kingston, or anywhere in the province, we can arrange it. Long-distance rates vary by distance and vehicle type.
What our customers say about accident recovery
"Made the car accident less stressful! He is very resourceful and reliable! Highly recommend"
"Moe is very helpful and quickly with the towing. Made my awful car accident a little better."
"This has been one of my worst experiences with a towing company I’ve ever had to deal with. After calling them for a tow service, they told me they would be there in 2 hours. I followed up with the company after waiting for 2.5 hours without an update. So overall, I waited 3 hours for the tow. After towing my vehicle, they held my car on their property for days without giving updates. After receiving my quote for repair, they still wouldn’t release my vehicle to the body shop. Customer service is extremely rude and hung up on me when I inquired about the status of my vehicle which they won’t release back to me. Warning to all future customers. Stay away from this company and just pay for CAA Edit to the owner's response: Aug25/25 My previous experiences with accidents, and after speaking to friends, I confirmed I've never heard an instance where a tow company has held a vehicle for over 7 days. In prior accidents, the vehicle was signed off and dropped off at the body shop by within 1-2 days of the accident. And yes we did try to call. The first time your office said he was not able to answer our question on why you were holding the vehicle still. The second time we called, your office refused to give us a straight answer and hung up on us. Our insurance company's claims adjuster was confused on why your company was still holding the car as he stated it should have been released to the body shop. The release papers have already been signed. I hope the lot fee you incurred for this tow was worth future business. I will pass this on to the other body shops and mechanic shops I work with to parter with another tow service."
